Two professionals with different approaches
The rivalries are wonderful when you have two contrasting personalities. I would love to see a fight between Carl Froch and Paul Williams. These are two sports people that have diametrically opposed reactions in the ring. Carl Froch brings out mixed feelings in the public and some of them are very negative. Moreover he plays for a country that has not been able to endear itself to the sports fans. The attitude can come across as arrogance but I suspect that it is hiding a rather vulnerable personality. I once watched a documentary about his preparation for a fight and it was quite clear that this was not the cocky man that was presented to the public on a regular basis. He has a great boxing pedigree with the best record of the single win record in the Super Six tournament series. He dealt with Jean Pascal in a very professional manner that surprised even his fans.
If fact that victory might acquire a new significance when Pascal faces Chad Dawson. Chad Dawson is reputed to be the best light heavyweight at the moment. If Pascal was to win this bout then we could conclude that Carl Froch is up there with the very best. We then have the calm and almost retiring personality of Paul Williams. There are times when you get the impression that his colleagues forger him. Having lost to Carlos Quintana some people might say that the cracks are opening up. Standing at over six feet tall he should be a menacing figure but instead we have a gentleman with a quiet demeanor. I wonder what a fight between him and Froch would be like.
I would not expect any pre-match boasting from Paul Williams but Carl Froch would do more than his share. Egged on by the almost desperate English fans, this would become something of a circus. In the current circumstances such a fight is not looking likely but out of a morbid interest in contrasts I would like to see it happen. That would make the news and for the wrong reasons.
